So a follow-up on the status of my Musical Theatre course. We're done. Our final exam has been completed, and that means lots of free time! Our exam was a musical (of course) and as I've mentioned, we did Beauty and the Beast. It went really well! We got lots of standing ovations, and we felt really good about the production! I've got some pictures to share!

My brother took all of these shots, so they are a bit blurry, but I think they sum up the show quite well!
This is a version of my song: The Maison des Lunes. It isn't me, and is very good, but it'll give you an idea of how creepy I had to be!
P.S. They are Australian so they have cool accents!
P.P.S. I plan on trying to post every day this week! Wish me luck!
Hello my freaky friends.
I haven't posted in a while, I know, eat me. I've been super-duper busy recently with my musical theatre production of 'Beauty and the Beast'. I've been cast as 'Madame D'Arque' -the creepy asylum owner who takes Belle's father away. It's funny, I always seem to be cast as an uptight old woman. The same thing happened in a student-directed festival at my school (it was called the Sears festival). I was cast as an ass of a catholic woman. I was creepy in that too.
Here's a picture of my animated self.
(I forgot to mention, Mme. D'Arque is a man in the movie. Well, M. D'Arque will just need to consider a sex change.)
Yall'z should come and see my show, it happens on May 31st - June 2nd at 7:00pm, plus a matineé at 2:00pm on June 2nd. That is, if your not in it, or living in anouther country.....
I'm just realizing, so, so, much has happened since I last posted. I played a gig at the spill with my Band; 'The Lonely Parade' which happened with my mates Anwyn and Char, and my brother's band 'Pepto Bismarck' They cover Nirvana songs...They posted their setlist on youtube (it's in three parts). We haven't gotten around to posting ours yet.
My time right now though roughly consists of rowing (5:45 EVERY MORNING), falling asleep during movies (probably because I'm so tired from the former^, I haven't gotten through a movie in about two weeks.), And watching Heartland. Let me explain before you lose respect for me altogether.
Heartland is THE best cheeseball show ever. It requires very few neurons to comprehend. The scenery is GEORGEOUS, it makes me feel happy, and it's Canadian, from CBC. (I don't have cable. Therefore-Slim pickings.)
My friends make fun of me.
PLUS, SPRING HAS SPRUNG!
That's all for now, I've gotta munch some dinner.
P.S. I'm planning to post tomorrow about my suitcase adventures, stay tuned!!
Today, in anticipation for some friends coming to practice our song for a Coffeehouse performance, I decided to make lemon squares.
I used a Martha Stewart recipe because none of our cookbooks had such a recipe.
This is my recipe
Lemon Squares
Step 1- prepare.
First thing's first. Preheat your oven to 350˚F. Then you can grease your glass dish. The dish should be relatively rectangular, and with dimensions resembling 9"x 13"
Then, you can line the dish with parchment (it helps at the end, you'll see)
Step 2 - make your crust
Grate the butter with a cheese grater (use the big holes)
(I can't say I've ever grated butter with a cheese grater, but that's what it says!)
Whisk together the flour and confectioner's sugar, and then add the butter and stir with a wooden spoon
You might use your clean hands for this part instead, but combine the butter and the flour misture until it's about crumbly, it will look like this.
Then, you can squish this mixture into your pan (evenly), and refrigerate it for 15 minutes. When it comes out, you can put it in the oven for 14-16 minutes.
In the meantime...
Step 3- make your filling
In a large measuring cup (or jug, you just need something with a lip) whisk together your eggs, flour, and sugar. Then, add the lemon juice, and the milk.
Step 4-put it all together!!
Remove the crust from the oven, and pour the lemon mixture onto the crust.
YUMMY. Then, you can place this back into the oven for 18 minutes or until the edges are brown. The latter it more important. My lemon squares took 25 extra minutes because the lemon bit was much thicker than the recipe's yield.
Keep an eye on it, because this part's fidgety, your lemon squares might cook much slower, or much faster than the recipe (depending on the pan you used.)
After the 18 minutes, you can take the squares out, and sprinkle with toasted coconut, or icing sugar!!
This it where the paper comes in handy. After letting the squares cool enough for the paper to be touchable, you grab two corners of the paper, and place the squares on a plate (have this prepared).
Peel back the paper, and cut into serving sizes! YUM!
Okay, so, this was a while ago, but I thought I'd let all of my lovely readers know that the APPLE PIE YOGURT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED. WAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!! MY LIFE IS INCOMPLETE.
I mentioned it HERE before, in case you have no idea whatsoever what the hell I'm talking about with this apple pie yogurt. Well, let me repeat, I LOVED THAT APPLE PIE YOGURT WITH MY WHOLE LIFE. IT WAS BETTER THAN ICE CREAM.
Anyway, enough of my ranting, and wheezing.
I'll tell you about rowing. I don't think I've mentioned my commitment to the most amazing sport ever. Yes, rowing and I go way back, we shared the water back in grade nine, I rowed his boats, and built HUGE muscles while doing so. (I realize now that personifying 'rowing' was not such a good idea. This is because I possess a mind that is most often in the gutter, and I am getting some quite dirty thoughts from 'rowing his boats'... This further proves my teenager-ness. I apologize for such a large interlude right in the middle of a paragraph)
You get the idea. I'm a bit giddy right now, and slightly happy that rowing season has come around.
AAAAAAAND HERE'S A PICTURE!!
(The dog is Binx...Binx had a tumor on her face. Anyway, this was after an agonizing race in grade nine. I'm second from left.)
So now that you know what rowing looks like, go steal a boat and try it!! But not actually, walk to your local rowing club, get a piece of paper, sign your life away, and get in a boat. But then learn what to do from there. It'll be fun.
NOW HERE'S A DEPRESSING SONG WITH AN EVEN MORE DEPRESSING VIDEO!!!!!
Hi, to the threeish people that read my blog occasionally (if there are more of you, speak out!)
I decided to visit my neglected blog, and realized that I haven't posted since Christmas...
Well the reason I've been waaaay too busy to post is one word: Exams-- the joy of my life for all of January. Exams are over. YAY!
I decided to write something on this blog, but then promptly realized that my life isn't really that interesting, and that nothing huge has changed. (ie. I still have all my limbs.)
But I guess the biggest change in my life is my dive into 'theatre'. Specifically the musical kind.
Let me explain: The end of exams brought the end to first semester. Which means the end of Chemistry, Physics, Biology and English (the subject, not the language...I haven't suddenly turned french or anything). Which also means the beginning of Math...and more importantly, my Musical Theatre course. Which takes up 75% of my school day!! HELL YEAH.
So no science till next year..... and time to write, and draw, and read, and rock climb, and watch movies, and play music to my heart's content!!
To conclude this thought with one statement, would be to say: My life has suddenly become interesting again.
So, I think as of now I will tell you about yesterday's adventure.
Yesterday, my musical theatre class took a last minute trip to Second City in Toronto. Now if you've never heard of Second City, I'd recommend that you get off your ass and run down to Toronto to see a show. The one my class saw was PHENOMENAL (teacher word right there). It was called "Dreams Really Do Come True (and other lies)".
Second City -- if I forgot to mention-- is a comedy club, where improv theatre is the beginning of all of the sketches. So basically the actors all improvise in front of an audience, and see their reactions. A director then puts all of the good chunks of comedy into a show and modifies the chunks to make them even funnier. It was pretty excellent.
Now to leave with a song... I want to play the Kinks songs, 'Lola' and 'Sunny Afternoon'.
I'm really into the Kinks right now, they're really good, and I love the lead singer's voice.
So I got a haircut last week, and it's pretty short, like old hair minus 4 inches. But I'm slowly getting used to it. And it looks okay I think.
Also, I have an Etsy account. I've had one for a while, but just recently decided to post some items on it. Just one actually, but more to come. Here's the link.
So, I mentioned in the afore post of my apple-splitting abilities, and not I will exhibit my superhumanness (which according to blogger is a word, because there is no little dotted red line underneath...)
Just so you know, this video took a few tries, as my mum invaded the one I made before; she tried to talk to me....grrr :P So now I have a nice pile of half-apples surrounding me. I'm gonna have to get eating.
I also look fairly exhausted in the film, as I was out in the woods today preforming Macbeth with my English class. And in case it's of any interest, (which it probably isn't) I'm about to soak my feet in the hottest bath known to man, and hope I don't get a heart attack. Plus eat my apples.
And now for a musical interlude.
Anwyn just recently showed it to me. I can't believe I didn't know it. AAHH SUCH A GOOD SONG.
So guess who has a new obsession? I DO! I DO!
Lets see if you intuitive types can guess what it is.
Huh? Huh? Huh? Yeah it's yogurt. BUT NOT JUST ANY FLIPPIN' YOGURT!!!
The most creamy, delicious, decadent, better-than-ice-cream-and-I'm-not-kidding yogurt. All other flavours are good, but apple pie is the best. I think. (I've only gone as far as apple pie and cherry...)
I'm advertising again. But Liberte is Canadian. And it makes the most amazing heaven-food in the world. It is based in Quebec, and all the products are manufactured in the Montreal area. Please eat some of their apple pie yogurt. I'm not kidding. It's better than ice cream.
Also, while we're on the subject of apples, I just thought I'd tell you that I found out today that I possess the superhuman power of being able to split an apple in half with my bare hands. I'll post a video later.
So today searching up on google, I came across the google doodle thingy for today. It's Gumby.
Hell yeah.
Okay, so I'll give you the unnecessary play-by-play.
So I clicked on the icon.
Being the naturally curious human being that you know I am.... I looked at the Wikipedia page.
Apparently it's Art Clokey's 90th birthday.
He's the creator of Gumby. The epic 70s claymation show(Well technically it started in the fifties, and ran till '89).
I also found out that he's the creator of other claymation films such as Gumbasia, which was the inspiration for Gumby. Gumbasia is pretty sweet. Especially since it's from 1955, and pretty much paves the way for all other aspiring claymators (is that the right word?). Here, take a peek.
Well, I've been neglecting this blog for a while. So, a few things to keep up with:
- it is no longer summer. (BLAH)
- I have a Chemistry lab that I should be doing.
- I changed the name, and address of my blog. (apparently 'Peaches en Regalia' means stripper in Zappa language, and I don't want a bad wrap. Aka, no creepos looking at my blog because they thought it was porno..etc.)
- the new name of my blog is an anagram of 'Augusta's Blog', also, salsa is delicious, I love bugs, and my father has gout. I thought the name was suitable.
SO
What have I been doing for the last, what, 3 weeks? Nothing much. Although a recent addition to this list is procrastinating. I always find a way not to do homework. I really, really, really need to work on this... I know.
OH! OH! By the way, my beans grew into pods, and I harvested them. I now have a bowl of sick rainbow-coloured beans. I'll have to boil them or something.
ALSO ALSO!
I went to my cousin Luke's wedding last weekend. It was apple-themed, and all the centrepieces were glass apples. They were FILLED WITH EPIC JELLY BALL THINGS. So, basically my extremely mature extended family and I had a small epic jelly ball fight. But, that's besides the point; I decided to bring the centrepiece home, becasue that's what you do right? So, guess what I used it for? A GREENHOUSE OF COURSE! Yep, I got me some sweet wildfleurs started from seeds growin' in my glass apple. Take a yourself a looksee!!
Can you believe how much they've grown in a week?? They must be doing some serious growing. I'm impressed.
And Finally: I thinks I'll leave you with this funky song. I've been listening to it lots lately.
Today, In my late August boredom, I decided to make cookies. I commenced my mini adventure by cycling up to No Frills for some brown sugar, and chocolate chips. YOU CAN'T HAVE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES WITHOUT CHOCOLATE CHIPS!! Then, upon returning, I ran to my best friend, Mr. record player, and put on the record that I just purchased: Paul McCartney and Wings- Band on the Run. Good record. After that, I immediately consulted my handy dandy JOY OF COOKING and asked it to give me a recipe for chocolate chip cookies. It did just that, and now I will show you how I made them.
(This is a really crappy picture)
First, I preheated the oven to 375ºF.
Then, I Whisked together:
1 cup + 2 tablespoons of flour
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
Then, I used my beater, and beated me some sugar, and butter. MMMMM.
8 tablespoons (1 stick) of butter, softened. *I used salted because it's better.
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
(cream them together till fluffy)
*this is where you are allowed to snack, because once we add the eggs, there's salmonella swimming everywhere in that bowl.*
(again, crappy picture)
Then I added some egg, and vanilla, and a bit of salt.
(I really should have omitted the salt because I used salted butter, but whatevs)
1 large egg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
(This picture turned out red. Heheh THE COOKIES FROM HELL!!!)
Then I added my flour mix from before to this buttery mix, and CREATED A MONSTER!!!
I beated them up too. :)
THEN
I added to chocolate chips:
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
And poured a little bowl for myself. :)
I decided next that I would have to grease the pan. (although the cookies still stuck, so pile on that butter)
(grease 2 cookie sheets)
Then I dropped tablespoonfuls of dough onto the greased sheet. *put less dough per ball than I did here, unless you want mutant conjoined cookies*
Then place them in the oven for:
8-10 minutes
Waiting...
THE BUZZER SOUNDS!!
Then I took my cookies out, and let them dry... I mean cool.. :P
