Friday Favourites #1

Welcome to Salsabuggout's first Friday Favourites!

1. This braided headband! The tutorial is right here.

This headband looks so simple and fun to make! Plus, it looks cool (and warm). I'm thinking I'll make it with rainbow yarn. That'd be cool.

2. This pencil shaving collar!
{via greenaccordion on Etsy}

I would totally wear this forever if I bought it. It's so cool.

3.

So neat. The spoon looks so deep and lovely. Plus it's hilarious and very suitable for me (I eat cerealEVERY morning).

4.

There's nothing like a warm bath. If I had this I'd probably never get out of the tub. My mum'd come in to check on me and find a pink prune sitting in an empty bathtub.

5. I found this on 'Lazy Explorers'.

This is THE most amazing blouse ever.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this post. I'm not sure if I'm going to make this a habit, but I'm trying it out. We'll see!

Have a great Friday!
P.S. I've had one post a day for the last week!  YAY!

The Promenade

Carla
Me being a stupidhead.

Charlotte

Ahoy.
Last week my school held a formal, like they do every year, and this year(because I'm a senior) I was able to go. Now just to get this straight. I would never have gone to this prom except that it was *theoretically* the last prom ever to be held at my school. Also, I thought it was good to get the experience under my belt.

Piper was my date, he's pretty chill, except for the fact that he is the friggin' tallest person ever(note the absence of head in picture 3). He also dealt with my awkward pencil-pose for these pictures. It's frustrating actually, because I was being idiotic in pretty much all of these pictures(note awkward squinty-face), and Piper kept blinking(I think he was actually asleep... or pretending).. But in the one picture that I wasn't being an idiot, or Piper wasn't blinking, my mum cut off his head. Well, that's Murphy's law for ya. :)

Tara also came. She looked lovely in purple, and hung out with me beforehand. PLUS guess who did her hair? Augusta did.

You're probably wondering what Charlotte was doing at my prom.... Well she was being hip and taking pictures with her amazing camera, and her super cool mom (who is fixing Piper's bouttoniere) in picture 5.

My hipster parents played Tom Waits when I was little, and I recently re-discovered him (through Piper actually) and this song is good.

Card it baby, card it.

Look at these humongous hairbrushes! I just bought them! One for each side of my head. Now I can brush my hair in under 1 second.
Ha. Ha. HA. I totally got you.
These aren't hairbrushes, they're handcards. These babies are used for brushing wool in order to make it fluffy enough to felt, or spin into yarn. My parents got them for me for Christmas, after my dad decided to make a mattress out of raw wool (we actually went to the farm...). I stole about a handful before it went into the mattress.

Well, it just so happens that my mom finds this mattress way too lumpy... so guess who gets close to 50 pounds of wool?

I sorted the wool, and only about a third of it was useful. The other portion was matted from when my dad washed it. However, I still got like 20 pounds, which is TONS for me.

I started carding yesterday. Here are some progressive pictures.

It's hard to see the difference, but the pictures after the 'before-after' shot are the ones where the wool had been brushed. It's fluffy and nice and ready to felt. I've got a lot of felting ahead of me. I could probably make an elephant. Life size. Watch me.

I'm preparing a Friday favourites post for this week, we'll see how it works...

Headbang to this. Isn't eighties music the greatest?!

Faerieland

I had to add this. I just find it so funny when I find condom wrappers in the woods.

Yes, I know this title is whimsical, and a bit cheesy. But I really love this place, and 'a Walk in the park' didn't quite cut it.

We took a spontaneous trip to Jackson Park today, and I took a few photos. That's it. Not much to say.

This tale. It's as old as time. Man.

So a follow-up on the status of my Musical Theatre course. We're done. Our final exam has been completed, and that means lots of free time! Our exam was a musical (of course) and as I've mentioned, we did Beauty and the Beast. It went really well! We got lots of standing ovations, and we felt really good about the production! I've got some pictures to share!

My brother took all of these shots, so they are a bit blurry, but I think they sum up the show quite well!

This is a version of my song: The Maison des Lunes. It isn't me, and is very good, but it'll give you an idea of how creepy I had to be!

P.S. They are Australian so they have cool accents!
P.P.S. I plan on trying to post every day this week! Wish me luck!
